TGIF & OOTD

There's something about Friday that just makes people want to sing!
(Not Rebecca Black style... don't get any ideas)

Fortunately for me my day is spent working an 8-4.  Catch the sarcasm?  Really though I am okay with it cause hours = moo-la = happy girl.

My fashion choices today were influenced largely by my need to rush out the door.  When I switched over to my all-season tires last night I was informed that my back wheels were missing studs. I'm driving home this weekend over one of the mountain passes so thought I ought to get that fixed!

Almost everything that I'm wearing today is too old or is unlinkable, but I think the general idea is easy to replicate.  Actually you probably have put together something similar, it's a very popular look (:

Outfit:
sweater - Kohl's clearance rack - $4!
leggings - Walmart
boots - Merona from Target
accessories - Forever 21 ring  necklace

Hair:
Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray

Makeup:
Maybelline Colorsensational Vivids in Fuchsia Flash

This outfit was so comfortable and simple.  It was great for a casual Friday.
We safely arrived at my parents house around 8:00 PM tonight and are resting up for a fun couple of days at home!

What are your plans for the weekend?

Thanks for reading, see you soon (:

Spring Nails

In the last year or so I've been really into nails.  Growing up I considered nail care more of a hassle than a hobby or something fun to do in spare time.

Actually until this last fall I'd keep my nails cut almost to the quick.  I literally never had white grow-out that nails have when they're healthy!  I deprived my nails so much that I thought they were thin and wouldn't grow.

Well... I was wrong.  I stopped cutting my nails, filed and shaped, and waited. Patience is key when growing your nails.  I never used any type of topical nail strengthener/accelerator or anything like that.  I used time. And seriously, lots of patience.

Now I can grow my nails out to lengths I never thought possible.  They do chip semi-frequently.  All that means is that I have to increase upkeep and re-polish/file more often.

So anyway, now to the real reason of this post (:

I was browsing Rite-Aid checking out their members deals and I came upon the Sally Hansen nail section.  A few years ago I purchased some Sally that I liked and I realized the collection had some really pretty pastels.

These polishes are so pretty and they were about $2.50 apiece.  The sale at the time was buy one get one half off. What!? I picked up these four but I wanted to buy the whole Xtreme Wear collection for that great of a price.

The colors I have are 405 Coral Reef, 481 Breezy Blue, 340 Mint Sorbet, and 270 Lacey Lilac.

Coral, Lacey, and Mint are all opaque polishes, and I could get away with one coat.  Breezy is a little on the sheer side but it's workable with two coats, so not too bad.

Overall the lasting power of these polishes are AH-mazing.  Seriously, I was impressed.  Depending on how much wear and tear your hands get, these polishes easily hold up for a whole week.  I do use OPI basecoat and Revlon topcoat with every polish I use, so that may contribute as well.

Swatches on a tissue--Top to bottom: Lacey Lilac, Mint Sorbet, Breezy Blue, Coral Reef
That turned into a mega post but hope you enjoyed and found it helpful.  Thanks for stopping by!

What nail polish would you recommend?

Mid-Week OOTD

We're halfway there!  Yaayyyyy.

I'm procrastinating a little on homework I've been needing to do, but I wanted to put up a post before I dive in the for the night.

A few weekends ago on a shopping trip with my mom, she made a style suggestion that I really liked.  Just today I got around to wearing the outfit.  I originally wanted to wear my white jeans with this top combo but they were in the laundry from earlier this week. Boohoo.

Outfit:
top (button up & sweater) - Forever 21
jeans - Miss Me
shoes - Charlotte Russe
watch - Geneva purchased through Amazon

Apologies for the horrible blurriness of the picture!  We were on our way to get some dinner when I asked my boyfriend to quickly snap a pic, and as you can see we were in a little bit of a hurry.

The idea my mom had was to layer the sweater with a collared shirt of the exact same color.  Now, this idea isn't anything new or revolutionary... I was excited by the suggestion because it isn't a style I usually go for.

Also, I love the extra large polka dots. Super cute!  And of course you can't go wrong with pink (:  Another thing I'm really into are the flats I'm wearing because they have a quilted cap-toe.  You can't tell because of the poor quality but I love quilted anything right now!

The only reason I love Miss Me jeans...

And here's a close up of my watch.  I think the aim was to knock off Michael Kors. Gasp!!

What is a typical mid-week outfit for you?

So that's what I looked like today.  Thanks for reading along!

Review on Maybelline Color Sensational® Vivids

Spring time is finally here and that means pastels, tanner skin, and SUN! Also, discounted Easter candy which I just spilled everywhere (Jolly Rancher jelly beans because I couldn't find the Starburst).  Oh, and can't forget about baseball--currently playing on every TV in the house.

Anyway, one of my favorite things in life is lip product. Lipstick, balm, butter, stain, gloss or whatever I love it all.  A couple days ago on my shopping trip I wore a lip color by Maybelline from the Vivids collection.  The same day I bought a few more (:

The thing I love about these lipsticks are first of all how bright but easily wearable they are.  They make a statement but they're subtle enough to wear in an everyday setting.

Also the formula is wonderful.  I have dry lips and these lipsticks make me feel ultra-moisturized.  They're creamy, SUPER pigmented, and I don't know if it's just me, but I think they smell amazing as well.  That goes for all Maybelline lipsticks.  Am I weird for that?

The colors I own are 865 Fuchsia Flash, 870 Shocking Coral, 900 Hot Plum.

See? It's true.
I like these three because I feel they're complementary to my fair skin tone.  I don't usually go for orange tones or yellow-based red tones because they make everything look icky.
Check out the full collection here.

L to R: Fuchsia Flash, Shocking Coral, Hot Plum
It was hard to find lighting today but I think those swatches are pretty true to color.

Have you tried the Vivids?

Till next time!
