Bow Top & Maybelline Red Revival

Quick look of the day.

This weekend I went shopping at Macy's and found some good sales!  This top with a bow in the back is a style I've been looking for forever, so I got one in black and white as well.  It was only $11 which is a steal in my opinion.

The lipstick I'm wearing is Maybelline Colorsensational in Red Revival.  Its my favorite red lipstick because its very moisturizing, opaque, long-lasting, makes my teeth look whiter, and I have a weird obsession with the way it smells... anyway I highly recommend it.

Hope you had a great start to your week <3

Products I've Enjoyed Lately

Hello all you bloggers and blog lovers out there! It has been quite awhile since I've taken the time to make a post for you.  What is the reason for this, you may wonder?

I don't really have a good answer.  Last week I finished up spring quarter with a couple finals, spent a weekend away with my family, and transitioned pretty seamlessly into working full time!

I haven't been crazy busy, just going through a little period of change (:

SO, lets just jump right in here and get started with some things I've liked lately.  These are going to be random, I think.

Not Your Mother's - Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo

For the last several months I have been a big fan of Dove's dry shampoo.  It smells amazing and it gets the job done.  The thing about dry shampoo though is... it runs out.  Omg!  So I picked this up on a whim at Ulta and so far I'm loving it.  It has a light citrus scent that quickly fades (which is better than smelling stink all day), doesn't show up super chalky white on my hair, and has a cooling feeling.  Overall, it's a winner so far.

Check out more on Not Your Mother's here.

Essie - Play Date

Uhhhmm, can you say gorgeous?  This color is amazing!  It's the brightest, yet softest purple tone, and I am in love.  My nails are slightly chipped in this pic -- two or three days into wear and tear on the polish.  I would recommend this color to anyone, its great.

Torani - White Chocolate Sauce

I told you this would be random!  Lately I've been drinking more home-brewed coffee and white chocolate gives it a little something extra.  It adds just a hint of sweetness and kind of tones down the bitterness of the coffee.  I found mine at the Fred Meyer in town, and you can probably find it at most major grocery stores.

Side note: this brand of sauce is what we used at the coffee stand where I used to work.

Keds - Classic white

You can never go wrong with a classic!  Pretty sure I wore Keds in the 90s and my dad said his mom wore an identical pair back in her day as well.  I love classic Keds because they're simple, comfortable, and versatile.  The only downside is they're impossible to keep pristine white.

Small tip: try to spot clean your Keds as often as possible and don't over-bleach!  The bleach will eventually wear down & eat holes in the fabric.

L'Oreal Colour Riche - 550 Vagabond Mauve

L'Oreal took an interesting take on the name of this lipstick shade (...vagabond??...)  however I have found that I really enjoy this product!  This is the first L'Oreal lipstick I've tried and I was impressed with its smoothness, durability, and cute packaging.  I will definitely be purchasing more Colour Riche in the future.

Thanks for reading loves!  Hope you enjoyed this little post (:

Plum Crazy!

Hello all!  Ever have one of those days where you find yourself infatuated with a certain shade, tone, color scheme?

I'm there today.  When I was younger (about 8-11) my obsession was purple.  Everything I owned needed to be any shade of purple if possible.  It was everywhere in my life for years, but slowly faded out as I reached junior high age.

Today it came back in full force.  And I'm loving it!

It made an appearance on my lips in Maybelline Colorsensational Vivids - 900 Hot Plum, which I reviewed here...

On my nails in Revlon Nail Enamel - 917 Plum Seduction (my cuticles are obviously NOT tip-top shape right now!)...

And my accessories in this infinity scarf I purchased from Rue 21.  If you aren't familiar with their stores, they offer extremely inexpensive options for clothing, jewelry, accessories, shoes etc.  I've found that I really enjoy their scarfs, and at around $8 apiece you can't really beat it!  The quality is acceptable so I find it worth it.

Hope you all are having a wonderful day <3

OOTD Shirtdress

Wednesday is one of my late-start days that I enjoy so much.  Nothing to do until noon!  However, today was an exception to that because I scheduled an appointment with the dentist.

Kind of a waste of time.

Funny story (or at the least just ridiculous), in the past three or so years I've slowly had my wisdom teeth grow in.  In compliance with my dentist's policy, I had each tooth removed separately only after they started causing me pain.  So much fun.

So as I remembered it, I had my top two removed as well as the bottom right.  Strangely my bottom right extraction site started to reopen two years after my surgery.  I was so concernred!  This is extremely abnormal so long after extraction.

Today, I made the hour long round-trip freeway commute to the dentist.  I explained the problem to the assistnant and when he took a look he said (kind of confused) "well this is a whole other tooth!".

I had gotten my teeth mixed up ): this one was the one yet to grow in.  So after a five-minute tops appointment he sent me on my merry way with my next check up in November.

Anyway, now that I've got that off my chest, here is what I'm wearing today (:

Outfit:
dress: Charlotte Russe
flats: Charlotte Russe
necklace: gift from Tyler (its a small diamond heart)

Check out Jacy's recent dress OOTD here!

It's hot here and for once not windy so I snagged that opportunity to wear this dress!  It's lightweight and kind of breezy.  The print is minimal - black & white floral, but I love the pop of color with the turquoise belt.

The weather has put me in the mood for keeping it simple, and sometimes you don't need a lot of pieces to look and feel your best!

What's your favorite warm weather look?

See you soon dears...

Shopping Spoils -- OOTD

Happy Monday everybody!  I'm back on schedule again after a wonderful weekend away.  If you're curious what the three of us got up to our time consisted of lots of chatting, a little shopping, and maybe a tad too much to drink... Or more than a tad (;

You'll probably never guess which store I found most exciting (Forever 21, what!?)

I've been trying recently to branch out a little with my style choices.  I feel that I live in jeans and that its been that way basically my whole life.  Style progresses with maturity, and because I've done a lot of growing up over the last few years I've pushed my fashion choices to do the same.

My goal this weekend: find something different.  Try something new.  So I did!

Outfit:
pants: Forever 21
blouse: Forever 21
sandals: Payless
necklace: Forever 21
bag: H&M

I had to take this in low lighting. I've been so busy today I didn't get a chance until 6 o'clock!  The angle is kind of awkward but I think you get the general idea.

I finally bought a "sock" for a sock bun.  I really like how it looks and its so quick and easy to use. The whole outfit comes off better in real life, promise (:

What do you think about the high waist trend? And tie tops? I've seen them everywhere!

Coffee Date & OOTD

Today my sister and I went on a coffee date with our long-time friend who we haven't visited with for awhile.  We found a new place, did a little shopping, and overall it was a great Saturday!

Outfit:
sweater: Mossimo from Target
tshirt: Mudd from Kohls
leggings: Mudd from Kohls
jellies: Fred Meyer
necklace: Forever 21

My favorite part of this whole thing is the necklace.  It is seriously the cutest thing!  My mom found it and I usually wear it with an ombre sweater that I'll probably show you all someday.

I like wearing leggings on the weekends for casual days.  They're super comfy and low key.  The shirt I'm wearing is very sheer but lightweight and I also really like wearing it with white jeans.

I didn't wear any makeup today OR do my hair. One of the perks of the weekend (:

Hope you all had an amazing Saturday <3

Let me know if you'd like to see what I got today in another post (mostly beauty)!

OOTD Denim on Denim?

I sort of feel like I'm throwing it back today with my choice of outfit.

Something I've found to be popular lately is denim, and lots of it.  I sampled this sort of outfit out last weekend and kinda liked it so I thought why not?

As you may know, I work a full day on Friday's so I like to be comfy.  You also might notice that I'm rewearing a couple of pieces already featured in my OOTDs specificially this one and this one.

Outfit:
button up: Forever 21
shirt: Forever 21
jeans: Piper's Closet through Alloy
shoes: Toms
scarf: Rue 21

The print on the scarf... I love the contrast!
In hindsight I should have taken this picture before I worked all day, but oh well (:

Thanks for reading guys!

Another OOTD

Okay, can I just say that I am basically in love with my outfit today. Sometimes you just have those days. Originally I had planned to wear this outfit with a black peplum skirt, not white jeans, but the weather wasn't cooperating with me.

It was overcast yet so bright at the time of this picture. Apologies for the ridiculous squinting!

Outfit:
blazer - Forever 21
bandeau - Forever 21
top - Forever 21
jeans - Paris Blues through Alloy
flats - Charlotte Russe
necklace: Kohl's

Someday this outfit will reappear with the skirt I intended to wear, but for now I think this is a cute alternative for chillier weather.

The blazer is sooo amazing, I am absolutely in love with it.  For a better reference of how it looks at all angles check the link above. In person the color is definitely neon yellow.  I think white-washing everything makes the blazer pop and really is a statement piece.

Alloy is a favorite of mine for online shopping because they carry pants with longer inseams.  I'm 5'9" (69" or 1.75 m) and have around a 34/35" inseam so they're a great resource for me.  They are also always having a sale or promotion of some sort.  This is my favorite site for coupons.  Always look before you buy... you can snag some great deals not otherwise advertised on whatever site you're using!

Thanks for reading dears!

What are your thoughts on neon this season?

TGIF & OOTD

There's something about Friday that just makes people want to sing!
(Not Rebecca Black style... don't get any ideas)

Fortunately for me my day is spent working an 8-4.  Catch the sarcasm?  Really though I am okay with it cause hours = moo-la = happy girl.

My fashion choices today were influenced largely by my need to rush out the door.  When I switched over to my all-season tires last night I was informed that my back wheels were missing studs. I'm driving home this weekend over one of the mountain passes so thought I ought to get that fixed!

Almost everything that I'm wearing today is too old or is unlinkable, but I think the general idea is easy to replicate.  Actually you probably have put together something similar, it's a very popular look (:

Outfit:
sweater - Kohl's clearance rack - $4!
leggings - Walmart
boots - Merona from Target
accessories - Forever 21 ring  necklace

Hair:
Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray

Makeup:
Maybelline Colorsensational Vivids in Fuchsia Flash

This outfit was so comfortable and simple.  It was great for a casual Friday.
We safely arrived at my parents house around 8:00 PM tonight and are resting up for a fun couple of days at home!

What are your plans for the weekend?

Thanks for reading, see you soon (:

Mid-Week OOTD

We're halfway there!  Yaayyyyy.

I'm procrastinating a little on homework I've been needing to do, but I wanted to put up a post before I dive in the for the night.

A few weekends ago on a shopping trip with my mom, she made a style suggestion that I really liked.  Just today I got around to wearing the outfit.  I originally wanted to wear my white jeans with this top combo but they were in the laundry from earlier this week. Boohoo.

Outfit:
top (button up & sweater) - Forever 21
jeans - Miss Me
shoes - Charlotte Russe
watch - Geneva purchased through Amazon

Apologies for the horrible blurriness of the picture!  We were on our way to get some dinner when I asked my boyfriend to quickly snap a pic, and as you can see we were in a little bit of a hurry.

The idea my mom had was to layer the sweater with a collared shirt of the exact same color.  Now, this idea isn't anything new or revolutionary... I was excited by the suggestion because it isn't a style I usually go for.

Also, I love the extra large polka dots. Super cute!  And of course you can't go wrong with pink (:  Another thing I'm really into are the flats I'm wearing because they have a quilted cap-toe.  You can't tell because of the poor quality but I love quilted anything right now!

The only reason I love Miss Me jeans...

And here's a close up of my watch.  I think the aim was to knock off Michael Kors. Gasp!!

What is a typical mid-week outfit for you?

So that's what I looked like today.  Thanks for reading along!

Weekend OOTD & FOTD

This Easter Sunday, instead of loading up on chocolate or participating in Easter egg hunts, Jacy and I met up with our best friend from high school for coffee.

The rest of the day was spent relaxing at home.  I didn't want to go all out with my outfit/makeup/hair so I opted for a casual look that required minimal effort.

Here I am shamelessly posing.

Outfit:
button up - Forever 21
tshirt - Too old to remember!
leggings - Forever 21
jellies - Fred Meyer

The weather was beautiful again so I was going for something that would keep me cool in the sun but shield me from the wind (we usually have a lot here).  Side note: do jellies bring you back to the 90s!? Sure does for me (:

Face:
concealer - Revlon Colorstay in Fair
bronzer - e.l.f. Baked Bronzer in St. Lucia
blush - e.l.f. Studio Blush in Candid Coral
lips - Maybelline in 215 Totally Toffee
eyes - Chopper from the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette
          Benefit They're Real! mascara

When I don't do much in a day I don't like to go for a full-coverage makeup look.  I used concealer in my problem areas, light bronzer to match my tan, a little blush, a one-shade eye, mascara and voila! Quick and easy weekend look.

What did you do this Easter Sunday?

Thanks for taking a moment to share my day (: Also be sure to check out my sister's blog, justJacy.  The link is in my sidebar.

Sister Shopping & OOTD's

Yesterday my sister, Jacy, and I took advantage of the beautiful weather and went on a little shopping trip!  It was a good break from school, work and general daily stresses.

We started off the day with a little espresso...

White coffee, white mocha with banana. YUM!

...headed to the mall where we found a few bargains, and finished up with a quick lunch at Olive Garden. Soup, salad and bread sticks--can't pass that up!

Jacy and I are twins and often have the same taste, however we style ourselves pretty differently.  Here are our takes on a casual shopping day look.  After lunch we stopped by this small community park to snap a few pics.  It was a little later in the day so the sun was pretty low and bright! Excuse the squinting (:

Jacy on the left, me on the right

Jacy:                                                                                           Aislyn:
top - Forever 21                                                                          dress - Forever 21
jeans - Rue 21                                                                            flats - Charlotte Russe
boots - material girl; purchased through Alloy                            earrings - Forever 21
necklace - wet seal
bracelet - Kohl's

Can you see a theme with our obsession with Forever 21?  We're both college students so we are all about affordable, cute fashion.

My goal for this day was to have something easy to work with for trying things on which is why I chose a dress with an attached slip and slip-on flats.  You can't tell from the picture but they're plain black and pointed toe.

I went light on accessories.  For my makeup I did a simple two-tone eye and chose a lip color that popped which is Maybelline from the vivid's collection in 900 Hot Plum.

What's your go-to look for a day out?
Would you dare to wear a bold lip?

Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoy your day (:
